Secular World Committee
The VVRS-WVA Secular World Committee is dedicated to safeguarding the rights and well-being of Vaishnavas around the globe in the face of challenges posed by secular authorities. This committee is instrumental in providing support when any member mission faces difficulties, such as unjust legal actions, repression, or restrictions from secular entities.
Key activities include:
- Receiving and addressing reports on challenges faced by Vaishnava missions due to secular opposition.
- Publishing statements of support and solidarity for affected Vaishnavas.
- Keeping the community informed about these situations.
- Establishing Vaishnava networks to assist when one group is unjustly attacked or hindered in their activities.
- Working to secure the release of Vaishnavas wrongfully imprisoned for their missionary work.
- Maintaining a comprehensive archive of evidence, such as scholarly reviews, court judgments, and media coverage, to establish the credibility of the Gaudiya Vaishnava Sampradaya and protect its members in case of future conflicts.
For example, in Poland, when a Vaishnava mission faced a lawsuit, the committee sent an authorized representative to testify in court on behalf of the mission, supporting their legal rights and ensuring justice.
Through these efforts, the committee works to uphold the dignity and freedom of Vaishnavas, protecting the sacred traditions of the Gaudiya Vaishnava Sampradaya in the secular world.
